Yes, it certainly was nice to see Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson back on the practice field after weeks of sitting out. He spoke to the media and said, “I’m following the medical protocols and we just go from there. We just take it day by day.”

Even if the quarterback practices, there always seems to be a question of if Watson is going to play on Sunday or not. That’s been the issue each and every week with the team having to relegate to backup PJ Walker, sometimes at the last minute and that isn’t good.

Watson is getting paid 230 million dollars of guaranteed money over the course of five years and it’s really looking like a disastrous move by the Browns. Now, there’s a chance the quarterback can change his ways, get healthy and start winning for the Browns. Yet so far it’s not looking that way…

The bottom line is that Watson needs to get on the field and start performing well if this team wants any chance to win. The Browns did not sign or trade for a backup quarterback. Yes, many wanted the team to trade for Jacoby Brissett from the Commanders, but they couldn’t agree on a deal. Even if that trade was made it’s not as if it was going to propel the team to a Super Bowl.

“I’m not cautious at all,” Watson said. “It’s just part of the process. … It’s getting better each and every day. The arrow’s pointing up.”

See many would disagree and feel that the quarterback is really taking his sweet time in regards to returning to the field. It’s easy to feel that way knowing he’s getting all of that guaranteed money regardless.

Currently, the Browns are 4-3 and sit in third place (same record as the Bengals) in the AFC North. The next matchup is at home against the lowly Cardinals and then two division matchups one in Baltimore against the Ravens followed by a game at home against Pittsburgh versus the hated Steelers.

The questions remain…

Will Deshaun Watson play in these games?

If the quarterback does play, will he be able to perform?

Can the Browns count on Watson to stay healthy for the remainder of the season and beyond?

Many likely would’ve taken a 4-3 record through these first eight weeks. However, with the way this season has played out this record is not something fans are too excited about frankly.
