Brandon Moss:

The Indians got off to a fast start on Monday, making the first “big” trade of the winter meetings.

The Indians acquired 2014 All Star Brandon Moss for 2B prospect Joey Wendle who played at AA Akron this past season.

Moss, who hit .234 with 25 home runs, and 81 RBI was selected to his first all star game in 2014. The OF/1B underwent an operation on his hip in late October. He is expected to be ready, and healthy for Spring Training. This trade gives the Indians flexibility with Nick Swisher, who underwent double knee surgery in September.

P Bryan Price was designated for assignment to make room for Moss.

Grade: A-

This could potentially be a huge steal for the Indians if Moss is able to return to his former healthy self. If he doesn’t the Indians only lost a 2B prospect in which there wasn’t really a fit for within the organization anyway.

Justin Upton:

The Indians are rumored to be interested in Braves OF Justin Upton. Though not likely, the Indians would have to free up some salary space in order to trade for Upton. The Braves are looking for pitching, and a middle infielder in return of the OF’er. The Indians are also listed in his no-trade clause, which lowers the likeliness of a trade happening.
