There have been many rumors about a possible OBJ trade this off-season. The media is going around claiming that the Cleveland Browns are looking to deal WR Odell Beckham Jr. The main rumor going around twitter that I have observed is OBJ getting dealt to Tampa Bay for their 32nd pick in the first round of the 2021 NFL Draft.
If you want my honest opinion, the 32nd pick is not good enough for dealing OBJ. In order for the Browns to go in a direction like this, they must look at what can be the best fit for their end as well. This probably would not happen, but if the Browns were to trade OBJ to Tampa, I want their first-round draft pick for the next two years and maybe throw in JPP or Suh to help out on defense.
Cleveland Browns GM Andrew Berry already confirmed that Odell Beckham Jr. is an asset to our organization and is going to be a long-term player on this team. From this statement, it seems that OBJ staying in Cleveland is set in stone, but it is always fun to discuss the analytics of trade rumors. I state that it is fun because it would be interesting to see what the Browns could get in return.
Getting a guy like Suh or JPP would benefit the Browns defense. Tampa throwing in two 1st rounders along with that also benefits a positive future for the Cleveland Browns. Right now this is all a smokescreen, but we will find out what happens with OBJ soon enough.
In my honest opinion, I think the Browns should stick with OBJ for another year to see if this experiment actually works. Sure, Baker played on fire while OBJ was out with in an injury, but they still won when OBJ was in. If you do not believe me, re-watch the Browns vs. Cowboys game.
As I stated earlier, we will find out soon enough.
