Coates was acquired via trade with the Pittsburgh Steelers. Cleveland traded a 2018 sixth round pick for Coates and a 2019 seventh rounder. He signed a four-year $3 million deal in Pittsburgh and is set to make $705 thousand next year before becoming a free agent. When the trade first was announced, I figured that he would have been used more in the offense, but his six receptions say otherwise. Coates was mostly used on special teams and probably will remain in that role next year, but he isn’t necessarily a lock to make the roster.
