For those who may not know, a reserve/future contract is for players who didn’t finish the season on an active roster, but the team wants to make some kind of commitment for the next off-season. It’s a concept that is new to my knowledge and seems a bit odd. However, it makes sense for teams that don’t want to lose someone they haven’t properly evaluated. Williams, Board and Howard will all have an extra chance to impress the coaches and make the team while Gordon, Coleman and Higgins are a lock to make the roster. I believe Louis is on the bubble leaning in while Coates may be nothing more than a special teams guy.
