Why the Browns Should Sweep the Postseason Awards This Year

Denzel Ward – NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year

Image result for denzel ward

With two interceptions against a future Hall of Famer in Week 1, Denzel Ward had one hell of a coming out party against the hated Steelers. Ward would only tally one interception through the rest of the season, but he gained the respect of opposing quarterbacks with his ability to cover and defend even the best of the league’s receivers.

In 13 games played this season, PlayerProfiler.com rates Ward as the #6 CB in routes defended per game (34), 11th in coverage rating (+32.9) and 5th in allowed catch rate (53.1%).

According to PlayerProfiler.com, Ward’s best comparable CB is Marshon Lattimore of the New Orleans Saints. If Ward’s season is to follow Lattimore’s, expect Ward to take home Defensive Rookie of the Year honors, just as Lattimore did last season.
