T.J. House was not somebody we were expecting to see as often as we did in 2014. He ended up pitching in 19 games for the Tribe, and he did a lot better than most of us expected. He finished the season with a record of 5-3, and a 3.35 ERA. House is a crafty lefty that doesn’t necessarily beat hitters with speed, but he always finds a way to get outs. The only down side to House is that he often has a high pitch count when he is not very deep into games. On August 2nd in a game against the Texas Rangers, House pitched 5 shutout innings and only allowed 3 hits to go along with 2 walks, but he only went five innings because his pitch count was sitting at 97. However, on August 31st in a game against the Kansas City Royals, House went 7 strong innings, allowed 1 run on 5 hits, and kept his pitch count at 85.

If I were Francona I would tap T.J. House as the Tribe’s fifth starter in 2015. In a starting rotation with four right handers, it would be nice to have a crafty southpaw like House in the rotation. He finds a way to get outs, he is fairly consistent, and he is a lefty. I believe House has a great opportunity to earn the spot, but anything can happen.

We will just have to wait and see.
