The Cavs were able to win an ugly one against the Hornets on Monday night. The Cavs jumped out to an early 21-0 lead early in the game, but the Hornets fought back to make it a game. Here is what we learned from this one.

• You have to give the young Hornets credit for fighting back. They could have easily mailed it in after an early 21-0 run by the Cavs, but they didn’t. It’s hard for a young team to come back from that on the road no matter who they’re playing.

• The Cavs can get out to early leads, but they can’t hold them. This was similar to the game last month against Toronto, but the Cavs were able to hold onto the lead against a much worse Charlotte team. The Cavs need to start closing out opponents early in the game when they get the chance. The starters shouldn’t have needed to play in the 4th quarter at all.

• 27/13/7 is just another day in the office for the King. He is putting up MVP numbers on a nightly basis, and is making it look effortless. He did an excellent job of getting Andy and Love involved in the game early, and continued to get all the Cavs involved throughout the game. He also closed out the game with a big 3 pointer late in the game. His 3 point shooting has improved immensely. He finished the day 2/3 from behind the arc. Adding a consistent 3 point shot to his game has made him nearly un-guardable.

• LeBron can throw a perfect full court pass with his left hand, which is impressive considering he’s right handed. But then again should anything LeBron do surprise us at this point?

• Kevin Love had another impressive double-double. He finished with 22 points and 18 boards. He also converted on two full court outlet passes to LeBron. Love is continuing to show us why we gave up the last two number one overall picks for him. He’s been consistent on the glass and has the ability to hurt defenses in the paint and behind the arc. His defense has also been improving, and does have what it takes to be a good defender.
