The Cavs are making moves! While they may not be the exciting monster deals we were all expecting, the front office, or what’s left of it, continues to work on improving this team as best as possible.
Veteran journeyman Jeff Green signed a one-year deal worth the veteran minimum for the Cavs. He’ll fill a role towards the back-end of the bench, potentially serving as a spark when needed.
Last season with the Orlando Magic, he averaged 9.2 points and 3.1 rebounds in 22.2 minutes off the bench. He only shot 39.4%, the worst of his career and 27.5% from three, also the worst.
The eight-year veteran isn’t going to be enough to beat the Warriors, but on a talented team like the Cavaliers, he could find himself a nice little role when needed.
CelticsBlog.com once said that Jeff Green is a point-forward type. He has skills across the board. At times he is passive and that’s probably because he’s more a perimeter player than a post-up player.
At this point, the Cavs are going to need these role players to step up and have career years. Green is going to have to be one of those guys.
Welcome to Cleveland.
