Weekly Tribe Roundup March 29th-April 1st

Well, Tribe fans, the 2018 season is finally upon us, meaning that it’s time for the inaugural Cleveland Sports Talk Weekly Tribe Roundup. In these roundups, we’ll catch you all up on the past week, with everything from final scores to top performers, as well as get you ready for the upcoming week. Unfortunately, the Indians didn’t get off to the best start in 2018, but as we all know it’s a very long season. The Tribe lost two of three in Seattle and sit at 1-2 heading into this week.

Last Week’s Scores

@ Seattle L 2-1 WP Hernandez (1-0) LP Kluber (0-1)
@ Seattle W 6-5 WP Carrasco (1-0) LP Paxton (0-1)
@ Seattle L 5-4 WP Leake (1-0) LP Otero (0-1)

While the record wasn’t ideal, there were still some great performances from numerous Indians this past week. These guys were able to get off to a hot start and show some great signs for the upcoming season.

Top Performers of the Week:

Corey Kluber: one start, eight innings, two earned runs, one walk and eight strikeouts

Yonder Alonso: three hits, one home run and four RBI

Edwin Encarnacion: three hits, two home runs and three RBI

Of course, with the good, there is also the bad. Several Indians didn’t get off to the ideal start to the 2018 season, but surely won’t be down for too long.

Needs Work for Next Week:

Jose Ramirez: zero hits, zero walks and zero times leaving the batter’s box

Francisco Lindor: two hits, two strikeouts, and one walk

Tyler Naquin: one hit, three strikeouts and no walks

Obviously, it’s still incredibly early in the season, and these will surely change a million times throughout the year, but let’s take a look at the current standings in the American League Central.

1. Chicago White Sox 2-0
2. Minnesota Twins 2-1 0.5 GB
3. Cleveland Indians 1-2 1.5 GB
4. Kansas City Royals 0-2 2 GB
