Vargas, Royals top Indians 9-5

The Indians fell to the Royals in Kansas City Tonight by a final score of 9-5. Defense cost the Indians yet another game.

It was a scoreless game in the bottom of the third when Asdrubal Cabrera botched a double play ball which allowed the runners to advance. Omar Infante then singled givng the Royals a 1-0 lead followed by a possible double play ball that was misread by Carlos Santana, which allowed another run to score making it 2-0. The Royals did not stop there, when Billy Butler singled to right knocking in Dyson, and Infante making it 4-0 KC in the 3rd.

In the 5th Eric Hosmer homered off of Corey Kluber  to right-center making it 6-0.

Kluber would exit after 5.0 IP after giving up 6 runs, (3 earned) and striking out 5.

In the 8th the Indians began a comeback with Jason Kipnis knocking in Cabrera, and Brantley with a 2 out, 2 run double. Santana followed with an RBI single.(6-3 KC)

The Royals answered the Indians in the bottom half of the inning when Alex Gordon hit a solo homer to right (7, Hagadone), and Mike Moustakas hit a two run homer to right(5, Outman).

The Indians offense wasn’t finished and put up a fight in the 9th, scoring 2 runs but coming up short and falling short and losing 9-5.

Tomorrow’s game is scheduled for a 2:10 first pitch.

 

Notables:

Lonnie Chisenhall: 2-4 with a double ,  a single and scored a run.

Carlos Santana: 2-4 with an RBI single.
