Update: With Watson Officially Suspended For 11 Games, Jimmy G Makes Sense For Cleveland

It has now been confirmed that Browns QB Deshaun Watson will be suspended for 11 games during the 2022 NFL season. This has been established since the NFL and NFLPA have agreed to a compromise, ending the Watson debate. Watson will now return Week 13 for the Browns against his former team the Houston Texans. So, now that Deshaun Watson will miss the first 11 games of the season, should the Browns consider calling San Francisco for QB Jimmy Garoppolo?
In the best interest of the Browns, I would say yes. Jimmy G has playoff experience and can learn the Browns offense quickly. If the Browns do end up going this route, it would be a temporary route, but would also prevent the 2022 season from being a wash for the Browns. A healthy Jimmy G will help the Browns compete for the playoffs and the AFC North division title.
There is a possibility that landing Jimmy G may not be the best move for the Browns. To start out, Garoppolo is known to get injured easily. For the past few seasons, Garoppolo has been hurt and out for many games. If the injury-prone Jimmy G does come to Cleveland, he could most likely bring his injuries with him. We also would not want the Browns to give up even more draft picks to land Jimmy G as well.
Worst case, the Browns will have back-up QB Jacoby Brissett. Brissett is not a bad option for the Browns. With the Watson suspension now being the majority of the season, the Browns have a choice to make. So, Browns fans, what are your thoughts? If the Watson suspension increases heavily, would you want the Browns to get Jimmy Garoppolo or not?
Either way, it will be a fun season! Let’s Go Browns!!!
