The Indians are in first place and are going to cruise to another AL Central Division title. What’s concerning to me is what happens after, once the playoffs start. Here, I cite the Indians players that are underperforming and what they need to do to improve and help the Tribe’s chances to win the World Series.
2B Jason Kipnis
The most disappointing position player this year. Kipnis is hitting .223 with nine HR and 23 RBI in 314 at-bats. He’s been pushed down in the lineup and it helped a bit. He’s hitting .289 with five homers and 13 RBI in the last 30 days. If he can keep that up for the rest of the season and into the playoffs, he’ll be fine. Kipnis would be the odd man out in the infield if the Indians were to trade for a Manny Machado, per se.
