Hey, Cleveland –

Well, no one expected the game against the Kansas City Chiefs to be pretty, but I liked some of what I saw, especially the aggressiveness from our interim head coach, Gregg Williams. Going for it on fourth down seemed like his way of putting the Chiefs and the rest of the NFL on notice that there’s a new sheriff in town. While the botched two-point conversions are easy to criticize in hindsight, they added a sense that things would no longer be business as usual in Cleveland.

Seriously, what else should we expect from the guy who coached under Sean “let’s do an onside kick to start the second half of the Super Bowl” Peyton? So, from this position of optimism tempered with fear, I will say that I am no longer dreading the rest of the season.

In light of the changes, the team did not look bad. We didn’t look great, but not many people expected us to have an amazing game against K.C.’s dominating offense with a battered defense.

With all this in mind, my Top Dawg for Week 9 is running back, Duke Johnson. While gaining only eight yards on one carry rushing, Johnson and Baker Mayfield connected for two touchdowns through the air. It would be great to see Duke carry the ball more, but until our 0-line can open up some room to run for him, I’m happy to take Duke’s production catching what Mayfield throws.

Nice work in Week 9, Duke. You are the game’s Top Dawg!

Week 1: Denzel Ward – 2 INT
Week 2: Larry Ogunjobi – 2 Sacks
Week 3: Carlos Hyde – 2 TD’s 98 yards rushing
Week 4: Nick Chubb – 100+ yards rushing and two touchdowns
Week 5: Baker Mayfield – 25/43, 342 yards and a touchdown
Week 6: Britton Colquitt- 242 yards punting averaging 40.3 yards a punt
Week 7: Christian Kirksey- Fumble recovery and an interception
Week 8: Myles Garrett- Sacking and harassing the Q.B.
