Too Little, Too Late

PG Kyrie Irving called SF LeBron James after he reached some sort of revelation about being a leader now that he has to carry that mantle as a member of the Boston Celtics.

Guess who LeBron was with? Kevin Love. Eating dinner.

Kyrie calls LeBron as he’s eating dinner with K Love…

This from ESPN:

“Obviously, this was a big deal for me, because I had to call [LeBron] and tell him I apologized for being that young player that wanted everything at his fingertips, and I wanted everything at my threshold,” Irving said after scoring 27 points and dishing out a career-high 18 assists in Boston’s 117-108 home victory over the Toronto Raptors on Wednesday night. “I wanted to be the guy that led us to a championship. I wanted to be the leader. I wanted to be all that, and the responsibility of being the best in the world and leading your team is something that is not meant for many people.

Well, Kyrie’s Celtics are in 5th place in the East currently and LeBron’s Lakers are in 9th place in the West. I wouldn’t consider either of them necessarily “thriving” in their new homes.

Honestly, I do not think the Cavs could have beaten the Warriors had our Big 3 stayed together but is it hard to see them so terrible this year? Sort of. The last thing we want is for the Cavs to be in NBA purgatory. Hopefully, we’ll get the #1 pick this summer…

Now, Kyrie had to know LeBron was with K Love when he made this call or else it was quite the coincidence. I’m not sure aging from 24 to 26 is “growing up,” but Kyrie seems to have been enlightened. I wonder if LeBron handed K Love the phone to say “what’s up, dudeeeee?”

I do not necessarily feel either LBJ, Kyrie or even K Love want to be in Cleveland for that matter. However, I feel the first two probably thought their ventures in LA and Boston would be going better. For that I flash a bit of a sly smile cause Kyrie really forced a trade sort of crudely and LeBron left again.

Guys, we won the title in 2016. We came back from down 3-1 against the best team ever.

It’s a shame it had to be ruined…and for what? Think about it… For Kyrie, his phone call is too little, too late.
