To All Reporters: Who Are Your *Insert Swear Word* Sources?

***To be clear, despite the cover photo, this is directed at ALL reporters, not just Skip and Stephen A.***

I wrote about this topic in the previous article and wanted to expand upon it in this article. Now, I get the concept of riding on your high horse in anything, not just reporting, you want to be great at.

First, let me admit it. Yeah, I’m the type of guy up at 3 am not falling back asleep, so I’m on my phone scrolling Facebook and Twitter X. I’m not claiming, by any means, that I’ve quit social media during the LeBron James watch weeks as of late. I’m guessing that if you’re reading this, neither have you!

This is my question. To be clear, only referring to the LeBron news…

Who are your sources?

I have many questions on this and here’s the biggest one…

If LeBron truly wanted his decision to be secret, why would he tell anyone anything about it? Maybe his wife or kids, with the understanding to not tell anyone about family matters. Maybe even his agent, Rich Paul, or some very close friends or old teammates.

But if I’m anyone close to him, if a report came out and said I was the source, I’m guessing LeBron isn’t inviting me to golf anymore with him if what was reported was the truth and he trusted me to stay quiet.

Continuing on, what is the reason he would say anything to anyone that would simply break the news and the wait is over? I could see LeBron having a TV Special like 2010’s “The Decision” to actually tell the truth to the public.

Anyway, so when I see a tweet/FB post or even entire articles, I wonder who exactly these “sources” writers and reporters keep referring to. This story is very different than talking to a chief police officer about an unfortunate murder in the area or anything like that. If he/her shared any information, it would be the truth. Not one of many different “sources.”

To clarify, I am not saying you aren’t allowed to have your opinion. And also not saying that opinion can’t be shared with others. I’ve written many articles with my own opinion during these past few weeks. I’m just not making up some garbage in those articles that “I have legit sources for, so this has to be the truth.”

I actually posted this Tweet weeks ago and it’s even funnier to me.

Now, this goes against what I’m saying in the sense that it alludes to LeBron talking to people. As this post was a joke, if he really wanted his close people to know it would be the truth.

So keep posting, get your clicks and likes, but fans falling into the “sources” trap is silly.
