The Crunch look to extend their three-game winning streak today when they travel to the “WINDY CITY” to take on the Chicago Mustangs later today at 5 pm eastern/4 pm central.

This will be the first of three games this season between the Crunch and Mustangs.

For those that don’t know, I’ll speed it up for you. In the sports world, Cleveland and Chicago are no strangers to each other and have arguably the best rivalries in the entire Midwest. I caught up with Crunch ownership members Eric Davis and Luciano Ruscitto and here’s what they had to say.

“This(Cleveland/Chicago) is a classic sports city rivalry. Even going back to 2016 when the Cubs beat the Tribe in the World Series these two cities are always going to bring it. you look at the classic Midwest Rivalries Bulls/Cavs, Tribe/ White Sox, Browns/Bears. I think this will rank up there with the best of them. If you are looking for a game that’s going to live up to the hype, you’ve come to the right place. ~ Eric Davis

“Chicago is known to be a quality team and this year seems to be no different. Especially after their convincing win against Omaha last night. Our players really set the tone at practice this week and have been stressing the importance of this match-up. This will be a playoff-type atmosphere and our players are looking to thrive in it when the whistle blows. This might be the best rivalry in all of Professional arena soccer.” ~ Luciano Ruscitto

I also caught up with Crunch head coach Lou Kastelic and got his thoughts.

” A handful of guys on this team including myself were around with the old Cleveland Freeze back in 2014. Even though we were the only team to play well against the Mustangs we still lost to them three or four times by a convincing margin. The loss in the National Semi-finals is the one that stings the most. I expect the Mustangs to come in with the same style of play from 2013-2014, But we have a balanced roster with young guys and veterans so I expect this game to be ultra-competitive. “

For those that can’t travel to Chicago to see the game up-close the Mustangs will be broadcasting the game on their Facebook fan page (Chicago Mustangs). Kickoff is at 5 p.m. Central / 6 p.m. Eastern Time.
