Completely Revamped Team
Cleveland has become accustomed to being buyers at the trade deadline. With LeBron gone, the team will try and build around the team instead of one player. Trading for players at the deadline become a tradition for the team but don’t expect trade deadline buzz next season.
Cleveland had 22 players take the floor for the franchise last season. Nine of the 22 players will not be on the roster for the upcoming season. The roster turnover isn’t a surprise to many fans as GM Koby Altman shipped half the team minutes before the deadline.
The Cavs recently traded for wing Sam Dekker who has had his troubles fitting in with a team. It hasn’t been disclosed as to who is included in the trade for Dekker, but on the same day, it was reported that the team will try and trade JR Smith.
Cleveland has put its emphasis on building for the future as they have continually made strides to re-sign Rodney Hood. Another attempt at a youth movement is the attempt to extend Larry Nance Jr, a key piece for the team going forward.
Don’t expect to see a lot of players from last season on the roster next season. It would be surprising to see the likes of Kyle Korver, George Hill or Smith to be in a Cavs uniform next season.
