Speaking of Kansas, linebacker Elijah Lee, a player out of Kansas State seems to have earned a spot in the linebacker room. With a rash of injuries in the linebacking corps, Lee has worked hard to earn the promotion. He recorded nine tackles this past week in the win against the Giants. Last week, he recorded six tackles against the Jacksonville Jaguars. The Browns used Lee last season to help out on special teams coverage and his hard work during this training camp has been impressive at the linebacker spot.
The Minnesota Vikings drafted Lee in 2017. He has primarily played on various teams practice squads. After being released by Detroit Lions a year ago, the Browns snatched him off waivers. His biggest season in the league was back in 2018 when he was a member of the San Francisco 49ers and he recorded 65 tackles after starting five times for the 49ers. He was on the 49ers as well in 2020 when they played in the Super Bowl.
He’s a tall player at 6’3 and he has been moving really well this preseason. With linebacker veterans returning like Anthony Walker and Malcolm Smith, I look for Lee to have a great year as you get a sense he’s hitting his prime of football. He’s been all over the field and look forward to seeing his production this year.
