The Top 10 Cleveland Indians of All-Time: No. 3 Kenny Lofton

Our next great Indian on the list is a big fan-favorite from those fantastic 90’s teams, centerfielder Kenny Lofton. Lofton came to Cleveland in a trade from Houston and Lofton became the center-point and focal-point for the vaunted Tribe offense. Kenny became one of the most exciting players to watch during that era. Kenny hit for average, stole a lot of bases and was spectacular in the outfield. Kenny is the club’s all-time leader in steals with (430), he hit a career-high .349 in 94’, collected four Gold Gloves and was selected to the All-Star Game five times.

Ask most fans what their favorite Kenny Lofton moment most will respond with: “Him stealing home against the Mariners from second base in the 1995 ALCS.” Another memorable moment was his homerun robbery of the Orioles B.J. Surhoff. Scoring the game-winning run in the Indians’ incredible comeback against the Mariners. Kenny Lofton would play for the Tribe three different times. He retired as a member of the Indians in 2007. Lofton was inducted into the Cleveland Indians Hall of Fame in, 2010.
