The Speech Terry Francona Needs To Give TODAY

There’s no denying that the ride to this point in the season has been very long and bumpy. Most of you are tired, beaten down and secretly have that upcoming offseason trip to a Hawaii beach with the family on your mind. This season has featured many amazing feats, but just as many falters.

Boys, did you ever quit?

Did you ever say, “next year we’ll do it” after a few tough losses?

Did you ever simply…give up when there seemed to be no hope for this team?

The answer to all of those questions is a NO, because this Cleveland Indians team hasn’t quit, doesn’t quit, and will never quit. Every at-bat, every play, and every pitch I’ve watched as you’ve busted your asses out there in order for this team to win, to succeed, to make it back to that glorious post season that we all so desperately desire.

Now, no one said it was going to be easy. It hasn’t been, and it won’t be moving forward. However, there’s still a chance. If we play the baseball that I know we can play, an AL Wild Card slot will be ours.

Tonight marks the beginning of our final run together this year.

Go out there and give it all you’ve got because that’s what this team does, but no matter what, I am so damn proud of each and every one of you this season. So damn proud.

As our friend LeBron James recently said, “In Northeast Ohio, nothing is given. Everything is earned. You work for what you have.”

We represent the city of Cleveland as well. As a team, it is our responsibility to perform at the highest level possible.

So let’s go out there and do it.
