After months of review, the Canadian Football League has approved Johnny Manziel for a 2018 contract. In an article written for ESPN, the details of his situation were broken down in greater detail.
“Manziel’s CFL rights are owned by the Hamilton Tiger-Cats, who worked him out in September. Thursday’s announcement does not necessarily mean that Manziel will play in the CFL in 2018, but the league’s decision, after months of background work that included an investigation into Manziel’s 2016 domestic violence charge, gives the Tiger-Cats the green light to sign him or trade his rights.”
Johnny Football is BACK! I don’t care if this makes me stupid for getting excited by this. I want to see Manziel playing football again. He will forever be my favorite college quarterback.
If he even does end up playing again, will he be a quarter of the player he was at A&M? Not likely. I can still dream! Even though his stint in Cleveland was an absolute nightmare, at least he made the team interesting. There were so many unforgettable moments from him.
Plus, he’s still the most recent Browns QB to win a game on a Sunday.
I hope the Tiger-Cats trade him to the Saskatchewan Rough Riders. That way, we all can witness the QB/RB tandem of Johnny Manziel and Trent Richardson next season. What a sight that would be. Sadly, that offense would probably be more effective than this current Browns team.
The odds are stacked against him, but there isn’t a better time for him to hear that he’s able to play. Perfect new years resolution for 2018, get in football shape.
