In Sports, we often see one of those nice stretches that a particular player or team goes through in a season. There are times when someone gets hot at the right time. There is something about the summertime that pitchers and hitters feel more comfortable producing. For the Guardians, another player is catching fire and he did it in August. His name is Cal Quantrill. Through six starts, he posted a 4-0 with a 2.13 ERA, 27 strikeouts, 0.76 WHIP and allowed just three home runs in August.

The 27-year-old has been undefeated pitching at home in Progressive Field this season. What? Are you kidding me? Is this for real? It certainly is. It’s true. Overall, he has an 11-5 record this season, but the five losses came on the road. There must be something magical about being at Progressive Field that he’s been pitching so effectively. Cal has an impeccable four-seam fastball and a sinker and it becomes a challenge for hitters when he throws it up and inside. When Cal was with the San Diego Padres, he wasn’t that good, but his game improved when he joined the Guardians.

Cal has baseball in his blood. It runs in his DNA. His father, Paul Quantrill, played 14 seasons in The Majors. Cal was born to do this and he’s making a name for himself this season with this ball club.

The Guardians’ story of 2022 keeps getting better. We are getting a surprise from one layer to the player. Any man on that roster can get hot at any time. That’s been the story for the Guardians. One day it could be Steven Kwan, the next day, it could be Tristan McKenzie, another day, it could be Andres Gimenez and now Cal Quantrill is giving us something to talk about and see for how long he can keep this up.

If these playoffs were to start today, where would Cal Quantrill be placed in the rotation? Hmm, that’s a good one. Most likely, he will be the third starter for a Game Three matchup in the division series, or maybe just maybe a Game Two starter. The main point is that Cal Quantrill has been another godsend for the Guardians this season. We hope he can continue this hot streak. September is here! As we baseball fans know that it’s the most crucial month of the season before October Baseball. The Guardians are currently sitting in first place in the AL Central Division.
