The Late Innings Magic Fuels Guardians to Victory

The Cleveland Guardians walked it off in the bottom of the 10th inning thanks to one of their best hitters in shortstop Andres Gimenez. For the Guardians, it seemed like the game truly started for them in the bottom of the 7th inning. This is the inning where the magic began to happen for the Guardians.
Oakland Athletics had a 2-0 lead heading into the bottom of the seventh inning. Amed Rosario got the rally going when he hit an RBI single that drove Myles Straw home to put Cleveland on the board. Rosario had a solid game with three hits. Jose Ramirez followed with a clutch RBI double to bring Rosario home and tied the game 2-2.
In the bottom of the 10th inning, Gimenez send everyone home when he hit a single to right field that brought Ramirez home and scored the winning run. Starting pitcher Aaron Civale struck six A’s batters through six innings and allowed two runs. Guardians improve to 34-38, trailing one game behind first-place Minnesota Twins in the AL Central division.
It’s been a rollercoaster season for the Guardians, but anytime you have a comeback victory in this fashion, it’s a great day to be a Cleveland fan. Gavin Williams will take the mound for the Guardians on Tuesday night against Paul Blackburn.
