The Hug: It’s Time To Get Over DeShaun Watson

There are articles posted about how Commissioner Roger Goodell should be “embarrassed” by the hug he gave to Browns quarterback DeShaun Watson. This is what people are talking about that went down in Canton:

“He (Watson) served an 11-game suspension after more than two dozen women accused him of sexual misconduct during massage appointments.”
Look, Watson served his suspension for the 11 games last season, came back to finish the year for the Browns and is ready to play this year with a fresh start moving forward in Cleveland. Let’s put what happened behind us, and push on to a brighter future as Browns fans with a frankly really good quarterback now under center for a full season.
The commissioner just gave an icon of the game (like him or not) a hug and a couple of pats. That was it. Get over it.
Do you know how many terrible personal people there are that have been in the NFL? Players that have done absolutely terrible things yet still played in the league for many years. I won’t name names but the list is very long.
We’re here to play football and win games. You don’t have to like the guy as a person. You don’t have to invite him over for your family dinner with Grandma and Grandpa. But guess what! He’s the starting quarterback for the Cleveland Browns and is likely going to be for many years to come.
If this bothers you? Go ahead and like the Steelers. Pull a “Jeff” and switch teams. (That’s a family joke, sorry). Your whining and complaining isn’t going to change who is under center for this team or who gives hugs to who moving forward.
If Watson eventually leads the Browns to a Super Bowl, it’s going to suck for you when your personal opinions ruin what could be the greatest celebration in Cleveland History. Yeah, I wouldn’t want to miss out on that honestly.
The Hall of Fame game ended with the Browns coming back and winning 21-16. Watson did not play in that one. Happy? The regular season begins on September 10 at Cleveland Browns Stadium against the Cincinnati Bengals. This will be after three more preseason games verses the Commanders, at the Eagles and at the Chiefs.
DeShaun, be careful who you hug moving forward. You don’t want to upset anyone furthermore.
