Guardians Bullpen Disaster

It’s not the way to start the second half for the Cleveland Guardians. The bullpen could not hold on against the mighty offense of the Texas Rangers. There’s a reason why the Rangers are in first place in their division. The Guardians tried to avoid a sweep but they squandered a three-run lead in the eighth inning.
The Texas Rangers attacked four runs in that inning. RBI singles by Nathaniel Lowe and Josh Jung plus an RBI double by Adolis Garcia were able to rally and give the Rangers the lead. The Guardians’ momentum was shot and they couldn’t answer back in the 9th inning. The Rangers started off the second half by sweeping the Guardians. Trevor Stephan picked up the loss for the Guardians as he gave up four earned runs. The Guardians had a chance to win Friday and Sunday’s game but their pitching was their Achilles heel.
On Sunday, Steven Kwan and David Fry were the ones to carry this Guardians offense. It’s a shame that their efforts were wasted by a lackluster bullpen performance. The Guardians will need to bounce back as they will start their three-game series against the Pittsburgh Pirates on the road.
The Guardians are two and a half games out of first place in the AL Central.
