The Columbus Blue Jackets: One of the Sneaky Good NHL Teams

As the Columbus Blue Jackets come into the last 12 games of the season, one thing is very clear. This team deserves to be in the playoffs! On March 8, the Blue Jackets went up against the Vancouver Canucks, who are second in the wild card race in the western conference and came out on top by a score of 2 – 1. This type of performance shows how this team can go up against some of the best teams in the NHL and win. At the beginning of the season, the biggest question was how the team would respond once Sergei Bobrovsky signed with the Florida Panthers and they responded by not missing a beat.

Players such as Pierre-Luc Dubois, Gustav Nyquist and Zach Werenski have been able to put up a great number of points – 49, 42 and 41 respectively (132 combined points). Goalies Elvis Merzlikins and Joonas Korpisalo have 1,786 saves over their 70 games in net.

This team shows their capabilities to go up against some of the best teams in the NHL and win a game or even series! If a team in a slump such as the Pittsburgh Penguins, who the Jackets play on March 12, come against the Jackets. Well, there is a very good chance that this team has the pieces to put on a dominating performance. The biggest question is how this team would fare in the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

If we look at the way that the Jackets faired in the playoffs last season, there is a great possibility that they could end up in the same position as last season – in a series with the Boston Bruins.

The Bruins are looked at as the best team in the NHL this season and are looked at as favorites to be in the Stanley Cup Finals again this season. The Jackets would put up a fight against the Bruins and could give them a run for their money. This season has been fun to see and it looks that there is more fun in store for Jackets fans!
