The Case for Jarvis Landry
The simplest of facts is the Browns need playmakers. In my opinion, the best playmaker available is WR Jarvis Landry. Landry is a three-time Pro Bowler and has put up excellent numbers with questionable quarterback play. In his four year career, he has 400 receptions for 4,038 yards and 22 touchdowns. He is a crisp route-runner and is a true number one receiver. As a top-tier free agent, Landry is expected to have a big payday, which is fine for the Browns as they have plenty of cap space.
A receiver trio of Landry, Josh Gordon and Corey Coleman will be a scary thing for opposing defenses to go up against. Adding Landry allows Coleman, who has not shined as the 1st round pick he was drafted as, to be our #3 receiver and takes a lot of the pressure off of him. Additionally, it is possible for the Browns to sign Landry and another receiver like an Allen Robinson or Terrelle Pryor (check out the free agent articles on them) who won’t cost as much.
The real question to ask is why would Jarvis Landry want to join the Browns? Obviously, we have already mentioned the money. Another aspect is looking at the coaching staff. New Offensive Coordinator Todd Haley has experience as a WR Coach, which is a position he coached at the beginning of his coaching career. Furthermore, the new WR coach for the Browns, Adam Henry, was Landry’s coach in college at LSU.
