Two red-hot teams in the American League collided for the second game of the series. The Cleveland Guardians and Seattle Mariners are both in first place in their divisions. As of Wednesday, it was the Tanner Bibee and Josh Naylor Show. Both men were responsible for silencing the Mariners. Guardians won the game 8-0.

Let’s start with Tanner Bibee. He was sensational last night. Through six innings, he struck out 12 Mariners hitters. The 12 strikeouts are the most of his career so far. He had a great curveball and his command was on point. You can tell that he was calm and poised on the mound. For him to shut down a good offense like Seattle is impressive. The Mariners are one of the youngest and most talented teams in the American League. Guardians need better starting pitching but this is a good sign from Tanner. We need this consistency from him. Bibee improves to 5-2 this season. The cutter and slider were also on point.

The Josh Naylor! What can we say about Josh Naylor? It’s hard not to like the guy. It’s hard not to root for the guy. Josh Naylor is quieting sending the front office a message to extend him. He was unstoppable at the plate. He went deep not once but twice and had four RBIs. Naylor saw the ball well, he was locked in and made the pitchers pay.

Steven Kwan hit a two-run home run for the Guardians. Steven Kwan is having an incredible year. I like his work ethic and he brings professionalism to this organization. He has a 24-game hitting streak going on with a .397 batting average.

Who will be the starters for the three-game series finale? Mariners right-hander Luis Castillo (6-7, 3.32 ERA) takes on Guardians left-hander Logan Allen (7-3, 5.30 ERA)
