Let me preface this article by saying I hate Ben Roethlisberger. Not just for his vile personal actions, but simply because I am a Cleveland Browns fan and Pittsburgh sucks.
The Browns face the Steelers on Monday Night Football at Heinz Field in Pittsburgh and it does have some playoff implications. Here Big Ben talking about if this is his last game at the field:
“I don’t ever speak in definites or guarantees, that’s just not what I’ve ever done or who I am,” he said. “But looking at the bigger picture, I would say that all signs are pointing to this could be it. Regular season, that is — I know we still have a chance to potentially get a playoff game there if things fall our way and we take care of business and things have to happen. But in the grand scheme of things, in terms of regular season, signs are pointing that way, this could be it.”
Here’s the thing. There is no way of knowing if this is actually the end of Roethlisberger’s career or if he will come back next year. Think about this…
What a feel-good story it’ll be for Big Ben to get the big win at Heinz Field over the rival Browns on Monday Night Football. It’s everything the NFL would want for its league. Thus, the referees are going to call the game in favor of the Steelers, of course. Big Ben knows this…
This would never be publicly stated. However, Roethlisberger might have made that statement with an idea in mind that it would help his team’s chances of winning because of the whole “feel-good” deal the NFL loves.
Let’s see if the Browns are to respond to the statement and maybe come away with a win if it’s not rigged. I have to admit that Roethlisberger has had an amazing career and has been sensational against my beloved Browns.
