Former Indian Grady Sizemore was named the starting center fielder today by a team not the Indians, but the Boston Red Soxs. Sizemore signed a 750,000 base salary deal in late January. It almost seemed impossible for Grady to make the team 6 weeks ago when the Red Sox entered their camp in Fort Myers, Florida. But despite having seven surgeries since 2009, and has not played in a MLB game since 2011, he batted .333 and a home run in spring training.

I am truly happy for Grady, he is a great, hardworking player. He was asked how making this Red Sox team compares to making his first major league team in 2004. He said, “I’d say this was definitely a lot more satisfying,” he said. “After going through what I’ve gone through, all the negative things that have happened, it’s a long time since I’ve had positive news, a long time since I’ve been able to play, to feel this good in this setting, to look forward to coming to the ballpark not thinking, ‘What’s going to happen next? What’s going to hurt today?’ Everything’s great.”

Well, I wish he would of had some positive news while he was with the Tribe, but it is great to see him doing well and being Grady. He is always giving 110% every play, which may of lead to all the injuries he has ran into. I still am not used to seeing a different guy wearing number 24 playing center and leading off for the Tribe. I wish him the best in Boston, and hope he can remain healthy.
