Should the Cavs Fire JB Bickerstaff and bring in Doc Rivers?

After losing yet another Game 7 playoff series, the Philadelphia 76ers have finally relieved head coach Doc Rivers after three seasons. Even though the Sixers lost a Game 7 to a tough Celtics team, they fought long and hard throughout, making the Celtics work for it.

Unlike the Sixers, the Cleveland Cavaliers fell to the New York Knicks in the first round of the Eastern Conference playoffs. Many fans, including myself, believe current Cavs head coach JB Bickerstaff was to blame for this horrendous series. There are many discussions going about among Cleveland fans on if the Cavs should fire JB and bring in Doc Rivers.

Although many might say this could be a great idea, I say otherwise…

If the Cavs brought in Doc Rivers, at this moment in time, I would agree he would be better and an upgrade over JB Bickerstaff. The problem with Rivers though is he has choked many blown playoff series leads. Over the past three seasons, the Sixers have blown leads in their playoff appearances. To be more specific, they blew a 3-2 lead to the Hawks back in the 2020-2021 season and now just recently blew a 3-2 series lead to the Celtics.

Looking at the goal for a championship, Doc Rivers will only disappoint Cavs fans more. He has only won one championship with the 2008 Celtics and has yet to make it to another finals appearance. This move would disappoint the Cavs as a whole. The only difference is we might make it past the first round.

As it stands right now, the Cavs have no intentions on firing JB Bickerstaff anytime soon. We will have to unfortunately roll with JB for another season, but it would not as disappointing as losing with an upgraded head coach like Doc Rivers.

Cavs fans, what do you think? Should the Cavs bring in Doc Rivers?
