Shake It Off

The 18th ranked Buckeyes hosted the Iowa Hawkeyes yesterday afternoon. Coming into this matchup, Ohio State won against Minnesota, while Iowa suffered a tough loss to Michigan. Ohio State took an 11-point lead, though that lead would quickly evaporate within three minutes, as Iowa cut the Buckeye lead to three. Later in the first half, E.J. Liddell created some excitement as he stuffed an attempted dunk by Iowa forward Patrick McCaffrey, which sent bodies flying to the floor as it looked more like a wrestling match than a basketball game. Heading into halftime, Iowa had a slight lead as they were up, 39-38.
Ohio State did a poor job of rebounding, as Iowa was able to get second chance scoring opportunities. Ohio State’s defense continued to struggle to contain Iowa’s offense as they either drained three-pointers or scored from inside the paint. Iowa started to run away with the game. Ohio State had turned the ball over, which led to an easy score on the other end of the court. At one point, Iowa had six more offensive rebounds than Ohio State had. Less than three minutes remaining in the contest, E.J. Liddell knocked down a three-pointer to bring the Buckeyes back into the game. Unfortunately, Ohio State got knocked off by Iowa 75-62. Ohio State needs to forget about this loss quickly, as they host Indiana tomorrow. Ohio State needs to play their best game because last time out, Indiana beat them.
