Rod’s Week and Sports – Talking Browns D

Last weekend, I made the trip to Cleveland to see the Browns game. I enjoyed being a part of an energetic crowd and seeing a Browns win. It was Baker Mayfield’s first start. He put up a lot of passing yards and made some critical throws when he needed to. I give him a lot of credit, but he didn’t win the game. The Browns defense won the game. There were so many timely plays by different players on the defensive side of the ball. The players played as a unit and kept the game close all afternoon. The defense gave up some big plays, but the held the Ravens out of the end zone. If the defense continues to play well, there should be enough offense to win some games for this team.

My brother joined Chad Painter and me on The Brownie Sunday Podcast. It was a lot of fun for both of us. I have loved sports most of my life and that probably wouldn’t be the case if it weren’t for my dad and brother. It meant a lot to record with him.

After a four-day work week, I’m not on vacation from my job for a week. I’m not going anywhere. I’ll be working on a list that my wife and I started a couple weeks ago. I’ll see what I can get done by Wednesday then my wife and I will spend some time together on Thursday and Friday. I’m not always the best at finding balance in life. This week I think I have it right and that’s thanks to my wife, Kristin. She puts up with me and keeps me in line when I need it.

It was rough watching the Indians season end so abruptly. Maybe the team never really hit its stride, yet they still won 91 games. The American League is tough right now. There are some dominant teams, so I just can’t get too mad at the Indians for losing a team like the Astros. Hopefully, the Tribe will regroup, find some answers in the bullpen and be back stronger next season.

Is it just us or does everyone have a stash of kitchen gadgets and appliances somewhere in their house? There are so many things out there that can make your life easier or more enjoyable. We have a shelf in the basement that holds things like extra water bottles, a cake saver, a griddle, spring-form pans, a Belgian waffle maker, a juicer, two crock pots, a blender, some gadget that holds three little crock pots and much, much more. Oh, we also have a pizza oven that cooks your pizza in like three minutes. We used that tonight and the pizza was good. The only issue is that we’re running out of room in on and around that shelf. We also plan to downsize in a few years. What are we supposed to do with all these life-saving devices?

Do your best to stay warm. Somehow summer got away from us real fast this year. I like the fall. It’s winter that I can’t get excited about. Of course, having a fire in the fireplace today was pretty cool. Seasons change, we move from baseball to football and basketball. Life goes on. Enjoy it and take care of the people you love and of course, Go Browns!
