Report: Freddie Kitchens emerges as front runner for Browns head coaching job

Many signs in Berea are pointing to Freddie Kitchens being named as Browns head coach, sources say.

ESPN’s Ian Rapoport reported that Kitchens and Kevin Stefanski are the remaining finalists for the vacant head coaching position for the Cleveland Browns. Here’s the tweet:

Tuesday morning, Stefanski was spotted heading back to Cleveland for a second interview with the Browns,’s Tom Pelissero reported.

With Stefanski on the way to Cleveland, Kitchens remained in the building,’s Mary Kay Cabot reported.

Remember, last week John Dorsey and the Browns blocked Kitchens from interviewing with other teams.

It seems like the Browns coaching decision is imminent and a final decision could be made as soon as the next couple of days.

While it appears that Kitchens and Stefanski are the frontrunners, who knows what general manager John Dorsey could have up his sleeve. Just a few months ago, Browns fans were almost certain that Dorsey was drafting Sam Darnold.

Dorsey and the Browns know Kitchens well and that will help his cause for the job. His established, growing and positive relationship with quarterback Baker Mayfield will also be a factor that is heavily taken into consideration.
