This year, the Cavs are looking quite horrid and while it is sad to say this after the success of the past couple seasons, it is time to start looking towards the NBA Draft in June. Since the Cavs are so bad it is presumed that they will have a high draft pick and one of the players who the Cavs should look to draft is forward Zion Williamson from Duke.
Last night, Duke took on the Kentucky Wildcats and Zion helped lead Duke to a 34 point win. In 23 minutes, Zion scored 28 points with seven rebounds and two assists. He also added in a block and a steal and only committed one turnover.
One of the knocks on Zion was if he could develop a shot or if he was just a dunker like was seen on his Instagram. In last night’s game, he showed that he can shoot. He hit one three-pointer and hit a few jump shots, even creating space for himself off the dribble. As the college basketball season progresses it is important to keep an eye on his shooting abilities.
Something that should excite people about Zion is that he did this against the Kentucky Wildcats, the number two ranked team in the NCAA and not against a lower leveled team. If he can score 28 points against a top-five team imagine what can happen against teams that are generally less successful.
Obviously it is extremely early in the season to figure out exactly who Zion is and how he might fit for the Cavs, but it is important to realize that he may be wearing the “Wine and Gold” very soon and imagining him on the floor with current Cavs players like G Collin Sexton, F Cedi Osman and F Larry Nance Jr. may be the only thing that gets some of us through this difficult season.
