The Senior Bowl is the first opportunity for NFL teams to assess the talent in the 2021 draft class. Current Browns players who participated in last year’s Senior Bowl are TE Harrison Bryant, C/G Nick Harris, CB A.J. Green and OT Alex Taylor. This year’s roster has some good talent, mostly day two and day three draft picks. However, if last year’s Browns draft is any indication, this year’s picks could contribute right away. Here are some players of interest on the American roster coached by the Carolina Panthers coaching staff.
Quiney Roche, Edge, Miami. He might be a better fit as a 3-4 outside linebacker. Has the strength, athleticism and technique to both rush the quarterback and stop the run. He weighs in at around 240 lbs. and has experience in the stand-up position. In the right scheme, he can be a three-down player. Possible second-round pick.
Richie Grant, S, UCF. He can play free safety, strong safety and can cover the slot. Probably best suited to be a free safety at the next level. Athletic and has good size. His best attributes are his ball skills and versatility. Needs to be more consistent, but could develop into a game-changer on the field. Late second, early three round pick.
Monty Rice, LB, Georgia. Played ILB for Georgia and has good lateral movement. At 6’1″, lacks the ideal height for the position. Moves well through traffic. Has good coverage skills and the quickness to keep up with running backs. Can rush the passer from the inside. Also is good against the run. Possible fifth-round pick.
Aaron Robinson, CB, UCF. Very quick feet. A good decision-maker and processes plays very fast. Best suited for the slot at the next level. Doesn’t shy away from the run game, however, is inconsistent at tackling. Unsure in zone coverage. Possible fifth-round pick.
Austin Watkins, WR, UAB. A very fluid route runner who is very successful in contested ball situations. Has excellent body control and terrific hands. Great concentration. May lack the vertical big play possibilities in the NFL. Possible six-round pick.
Richie Grant, S UCF.
Josheah Bledsoe, S, Missouri.
Jabril Cox, LB, LSU.
Paddy Fisher, LB, Northwestern.
Marvin Wilson DT, Florida State.
Robert Rochell, CB, Central Arkansas
D.J. Daniel, CB, Georgia.
Qunitin Morris, TE, Bowling Green.
Noah Gray, Duke, TE.
David Moore, G Grambling.
As practice starts this week, it will interesting to see which players the Browns scouting staff interviews. Someone on this roster might be playing for the Browns in 2021.
