Pick #67 Browns Select DE Chad Thomas
Chad Thomas was born and raised in Florida and played college at Maimi U and now he must experience the cold Cleveland weather. The Cleveland Browns selected the defensive end with the third pick of the third round, 67th overall after trading with the Indianapolis Colts for this pick and 176.
Thomas played a reserve role for his first two seasons at Miami, but once he became a starter he showed his ability to penetrate. In his final two years at college, he recorded 23.5 tackles for a loss and nine sacks. Thomas possesses a great combination of strength and speed.
The defensive end will need some coaching up, but I have no doubt Gregg Williams will get him set on the right path. Also, Thomas is versatile enough to play in 4-3 or 3-4 schemes and drop into coverage. Expect Chad Thomas to earn a rotation spot and see significant playing time.
