LeBron James holds many basketball records, including being one of the top high school scorers in Ohio. But on February 6, he was bumped down a notch.

Franklin High School senior Luke Kennard surpassed James for the fourth spot on the Ohio High School Scoring List, totaling -as of now- 2,652 points, just 28 points behind Geno Ford. The Duke commit finished Friday’s game with 44 points, with 39 having been the magic number.

Kennard, who has played on James’ AAU teams, said he knew when he hit his three-pointer that he had broken the record. When asked, James said “He’s good. He’s going to Duke. He’s one of my kids. That’s great. I’m happy for him.”

Kennard still has a few more games to pad his career stats. The five-star recruit is still trailing Ford, Jay Burson and Jon Diebler, but will go down being known as the player that passed the King.
