Okoro and Company Squeak By Memphis Grizzlies

The Cleveland Cavaliers went into Memphis Thursday Night January 7th, 2021 and defeated the Grizzlies with a final score of 94-90. This brings the Cavs to a record of 5-4, displaying a competitive mentality so far this season. The Cavs needed this one dearly after losing two-straight games to the Orlando Magic. This victory was also much needed since the Cavs had many key players out. The Cavaliers were without PG Colin Sexton, SG Kevin Porter, PG Darius Garland and many more. The Cavs are also dealing with some long-term injuries losing PF Kevin Love and PG Dante Exum. With all of these overwhelming injuries the Cavs are facing, they still performed well and got the job done over the Grizzlies.

The Cavs kept the score close throughout the game and found a way to take over in the final minutes late in the 4th period. Two Cavaliers players that starred in this game include PF Larry Nance Jr. who was on fire from three all game long and SG Isaac Okoro with a crucial block in the final seconds of the game. The block that Okoro made at the end was won by a coach’s challenge that head coach J.B. Bickerstaff called out, securing the fifth win for the Cleveland Cavaliers.

The Cavs are currently third in the Eastern Central Division and the eight seed in the Eastern Conference. As a die-hard fan of the Cleveland Cavaliers, they have been extremely exciting to watch and finding ways to win when needed. Going into this season, I had some low expectations as this is a rebuilding year. Even though this is a rebuilding year, the Cavs are playing with heart and finding ways to win. Let’s keep the party rolling as Cleveland fans await many more victories from this young Cavs squad!
