Need To Know: Browns Lose To Saints In Disappointing Freezer

This specific article about the Browns’ 17-10 loss over the New Orleans Saints on Saturday in Cleveland is a part of my “Need to Know” series which goes through everything you need to know for each Browns game!

The Browns Are Officially Eliminated From The Playoffs

With the loss to the Saints, the Browns officially have a 0% chance of making the playoffs for 2022. It’s not like even with a win the team was going to waltz into the Super Bowl or anything…but still. Just hearing that sucks. What a disappointing season this has been.

The Weather Was Ridiculous

At kickoff, the temperature was at six degrees but it felt much colder in First Energy Stadium. Even so, TE David Njoku was warming up without a shirt on. Good for him as he promised.

The Browns Were Actually Winning 10-0

After building a 10-0 lead, the Browns let up 17-straight points thus leading to the loss to the Saints. Not acceptable to blow leads like that, especially at home.

Drops, Drops and More Drops

TE David Njoku, WR Amari Cooper and others had crucial drops that cost the Browns a chance to extend drives or score and subsequently win the game.

Stefanski’s Playcalling Adds Heat to His Seat

When the coach should have been running the ball to get first downs, he decided to pass and it failed multiple times. The coach is certainly on the hot seat heading into next year.

125 Passing Yards…Yikes

A team needs to have more yards passing in order to win games. 125 is just not going to cut it and it clearly showed with the final score.

Third Down Efficiency Bad Again

7/16 on third down (1/3 on fourth down). Yes, the Saints went 7/15, but they won the game…

DE Myles Garrett Was Absent

Three tackles – yawn. No sacks the entire game. It’s certainly expected that he produce more throughout the battle.

One Turnover For Each Side

One would think that the Saints would’ve forced more turnovers than the Browns as they won the game. Only turning the ball over one time isn’t bad. That’s why it’s so odd with that stat the Browns still lost.

The Game Was On SATURDAY

Now, this is a personal one for me. I wrote a previous article and said “Sunday” multiple times in the post. Not only that but in the caption that I wrote for the article and shared on multiple fronts, I also wrote Sunday. I had to redo each post over and over again because of my error. Let’s play these games on Sunday cause Saturday throws me off and should be for college football only.

I hope everyone had a Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays. We look forward to the new year fast approaching…and wait…maybe this is our year!
