Just recap the missed week of monsters weekly the Monsters were at home vs Utica. The first game was critical to keep the playoff chase going. The game was tied most of the game. The two went to overtime and just 24secs in the Comets score to take a 3-2 victory. The Comets scored 2 goals in the third to tie the game. There was one goal scored by each team and in the end this game went into a shootout. In 10th round the Monsters Guillaume Desbiens scored to give the Monsters a 2-1 victory.

My Opinion: Just like with the Cavaliers the Monsters were out of the playoff push with a major loss. Losing two big ones at home both in extra time really killed us. There is still one week to go keep playing hard.

4.15.14: The Monsters were at home to take on the Hamilton Bulldogs. After a scoreless first period, Hamilton’s Joonas Nattinen scored on Calvin Pickard to give the Bulldogs the lead. Later in the period Andrew Agozzino scored to tie the game. In the early stages of the third period Nick Sorkin scored what was the game winner for the Bulldogs as they left the “Q” with a 2-1 victory.

4.18.14: The Monsters were on the road to take on the Grand Rapids Griffins. In the final road game the season the Monsters came out Firing as Andrew Agozzino scored the first goal. J.T Wyman followed up with a goal of his own for a 2-0 Monsters lead. The Griffins would eventually come back and get goals from Andrej Nestrasil and Teemu Pulkkinen which tied the game. The Monsters found a sense of urgency and got the game winner from Collin Smith. In the end the Monsters get a Matt Pufahl Goal his first of the season and his first professional goal on a empty netter, which gave the Monsters the 4-2 win!

4.19.14: The Final home of the season and the Griffins were in town. After a scoreless first period, Mitchell Heard scores to give the Monsters a 1-0 lead. Soon after Andreas Athanasiou and Andrej Nestrasil of the Grifins score to take a 2-1 lead. The Monsters would tie on a David van der Gulik goal. Troy Bourke scored on a rebound to give the Monsters a 3-2 lead. The Griffins countered as Ryan Sproul scored the equalizer and forced the game into overtime which lead to a shootout. The most dramatic ending of the year lead to this. The Monsters scored the first shootout goal. The Griffins would follow with a goal of their own. The final shoot out goal was scored by Brett Clark Of the Monsters and the “Q” erupted as the Monsters took home the win.

Final Thoughts: First of what a great season by the Monsters. They did their jobs which is to feed the mother team the Colorado Avalanche. They also played well for the home fans and well all season. This year was Plagued by injuries which were costly in the January-April run. Things will continue to get better as the future is always bright.
