Monsters Weekly: The End Is Near
4.1.14: The Lake Erie Monsters were still on the road as they took on the San Antonio Rampage! The first goal came from Micheal Schumacher just four minutes into the first period. This was the only goal of the first period. Early in the second period Mike Sgarbossa of the Monsters scored to stretch the lead to 2-0. San Antonio would go on a tear as Joey Crabb and Matt Gilroy score to tie the game. When it looked like the Monsters were rattled they come back and score two goals of there own before the period would end. The goals are credited to Stefan Elliott and Karl Stollery as the Monsters took the 4-2 lead into the third period. Joey Hishon would score the Monsters final goal to force a 5-2 lead. San Antonio scored the final goal of the night from Jared Gomes as they fell to far to stop the Monsters!
4.4.14: The Monsters took on the Texas Stars in Texas. This was a very unfortunate loss as Brett Ritchie scored four goals and Justin Dowling put up the fifth. The Monsters got their only goal from Andrew Agozzino as they fell hard 5-1
4.5.14: The Monsters headed to San Antonio to take on the Rampage. Another short felt one as the Monsters were blanked in a 3-0 loss. The Rampage goals were accredited to Josh McFadden, Connor Brickley and Greg Rallo.
4.6.14: The Monsters were back to take on the Texas Stars in the second meeting of the weekend. The Stars opened the scoring as Jyrkki Jokipakka dropped in a wrist shot. 35 Seconds later the Monsters get on the board as David van der Gulik score the lone Monsters Goal. The Stars would go on and get goals from Scott Glennie, Brett Ritchie and Justin Dowling to force a 4-1 victory.
Postseason push: Mathematically the Monsters are still in it, but with no room for error having to win out the chances are very slim. The monsters are ten points back of the 8th seed and eleven points behind the 7th seed. Two wins by either of those teams and the Monsters are out.
upcoming: 4.10 and 4.11 vs Utica Comets
My take: The Monsters are nearing the end of the season. Playoffs or not these next two home games would be great wins for the home crowd. Thats what they need to do keep the fans happy and involved just like they have been. The previous week really took a huge blow to the playoff push losing 3/4. In the end the Monsters must keep fighting!
