3.19.14: The Monsters were at home to take on the Toronto Marlies. The game was scoreless until the second period when Michael Schumacher of the Monsters scored. This was his 6th goal of the season. Just about eight minutes later the Marlies Collin Smith went top shelf to tie the game at 1-1. Later in the period the Marlies took the lead with a goal through traffic by Josh Leivo, which made the game 2-1. With two minutes left in the game second period the Monsters got the tying goal, which was scored by Stefan Elliot. The third period started of with the Monsters Brett Clark scoring to make it a 3-2 game. As the Marlies trail in the late stages of the game, Korbinian Holzer scores the equalizer. The third period ended with a 3-3 score, and the overtime did not have a victor decided so we went to a shootout. Unfortunately the Monsters fell in the shootout as Trevor Smith and Jerry D’Amigo scored for the Marlies.

My take: the monsters played well in this one. The Marlies just got two goals that were in traffic which are difficult to see and even harder to stop. I’ve also noticed the shootout struggles at times by goalie Calvin Pickard. On a better note the Monster did receive a point in this game.

3.21.14: On this pink the rink night the Monsters took on the Rochester Americans. Troy Bourke opened up the scoring as he rebounded a shot while still on the ice. The Monsters continued to score goals as Micheal Schumacher and J.T Wyman score in the second period giving the Monsters a 3-0 lead. The Monsters were not finished as J.T Wyman scored his second goal of the night and the final goal scored by Mark Olver to give the monsters a 5-0 victory!

My take: Sami Aittokallio stopped all 25 shots for this shut out victory. This is Sami’s third shutout of the season. The Monsters played a great game and were just on fire scoring five goals!

2.23.14: The Monsters took on the Rochester Americans on this Sunday afternoon. Sami Aittokallio was in goal. Spoiler alert another shut out for Sami. The Monsters opened the scoring as Guillaume Desbiens scored the first goal! Only 43 seconds later Stefan Elliott scored the second goal of the game. Mike Sgarbossa scored the final of of the day to force a Monsters 3-0 victory! Sami saw 23 shot in the game and let none by.

My final take: With the week winning two of three games i cant help but to be happy. The Monsters also got five of the six possible points of the week.

Upcoming schedule: The upcoming schedule gets rough as we take on the first three of seven game road games. 3/26 @ Chicago Wolves, 3/28 @ Milwaukee Admirals, 3/29 @ Chicago Wolves.
