Line It Up or Pay The Price

The Cleveland Browns have been rumored to be in trade discussions with the Houston Texans for quarterback Deshaun Watson. Now, this QB has 22 allegations against him from 10 different women and one has to think that not every single one of those is false. However, no criminal charges have been filed…
If I’m Browns current quarterback Baker Mayfield, it probably feels like my wife was getting a cup of coffee with a handsome and smart super rich guy. Oh, sure they are not in bed together or anything, but that isn’t something I want my wife doing honestly. It’s not cheating, cheating, but it’s not cool…right?
And that’s where the front office has messed up…
What the Browns needed to do is be absolutely 100% certain that they had a deal in line for a new quarterback before making it a huge deal about it publically. This way if the deal didn’t work out the team could still fall back on Baker for this upcoming season.
Now, despite the fact that a deal for Watson is completely uncertain, If I’m Baker, I’m done with the Cleveland Organization. It’s almost like he already wrote his goodbye with this Tweet…

Jeez…
I’ll be honest. I was and still am ready to move on from Mayfield as the quarterback of the Browns. He was absolutely terrible last season with 17 touchdowns compared to 13 interceptions and a QBR of 83.1.
At 26 years of age, it’s not like Mayfield is anywhere near the end of his career as a quarterback. He could go on to another team, play amazingly and win a Super Bowl. Wouldn’t that just be “Typical Browns”?
However, criticisms such as height, decision making, staying healthy and more are reasons that the front office is apparently ready to move on from Mayfield.
To whom? That is the question!
If this Watson idea doesn’t work out it’s going to be very difficult to just turn the page with Mayfield. With the 13th pick in the draft, it was always thought that the Browns were going to pick a wide receiver and not any type of quarterback. Plus, the QB prospects are not very good anyway this season and selecting someone at that slot most likely would not work out.
Everything will be okay if the Browns are able to make that deal for Watson and get him to waive his “no-trade clause” and come to Cleveland. Right now, that’s not looking so great and that is the problem the team is facing.
Quarterbacks have been an issue since I was born for the Browns. It doesn’t appear to be changing any time soon, sadly.
