The Indians picked shortstop Francisco Lindor with the 8th overall pick in the 2011 MLB draft. Lindor has gone through the levels of the farm system very productively since them. It seems as if every year he has improved, and this year is no different.

Lindor has played all of 2014 in Akron. He has had a great year so far. Lindor has already doubled home run total from last year and nearly matched his RBI total, with 4 and 28 respectively. Lindor split time with high-A Carolina and AA Akron last year.

Now the question comes up, when will Lindor be ready to be the Indians shortstop? Currently we have two time All-Star Asdrubal Cabrera. We all know Cabrera has struggled recently, and many people want to see a change. Cabrera has had a great start to 2014 offensively, but already has six errors. This is the last year of Cabrera’s 3-year deal, so I would like to see the Indians try to get some value for him at some point this year.

No matter what happens with Cabrera this year, Lindor is still right behind him waiting for his opportunity.
