The Cleveland Indians received some bad news today as star shortstop Francisco Lindor is out 7-9 weeks with a right calf strain. Thus, he will miss all of spring training and the first few weeks of the regular season because of this injury.
Last year, Lindor hit .277 with 38 HR and 92 RBI. Additionally, he had an OPS of .352.
Frankly, the Indians have had an underwhelming off-season and this news doesn’t help the morale of the team to start 2019. Lindor is the anchor of the infield and surely will be missed.
He sustained the injury while working out in Orlando.
Jose Ramirez, who usually plays 3rd base, could slide over to shortstop in the meantime. Manager Terry Francona will have to get creative…
