Let’s Pump the Brakes While Being Happy
I’m pumped! The Cleveland Browns beat the Tampa Bay Buccaneers by a score of 23-19 in what many thought was going to be Deshaun Watson’s final game as a starter for the Browns. But I made this point on Twitter X and I believe it to be true.
For some, they are in denial or begrudgingly admit that Deshaun Watson had a great game to get the win. This was along with a solid performance by the defense. They are also in denial about being happy about the Browns.
However, it’s important to remember that it was just one game and the Browns have the entire rest of the season to go. And then there are those disappointed in the win because of the 0-17 quest for the guaranteed first pick of (possibly) quarterback Arch Manning. Of course, the opportunity is still there for a top draft pick despite a single win.
Because, as said in the tweet, if Baker Mayfield completes his last pass of the game in the end zone and the Bucs actually win the game…everyone’s disposition stays the same and is ignited by another loss by the Browns. Even so, Watson would still (likely) be the starter for this game because of his aforementioned great play…
So, what now?
A lot of questions will be answered in this upcoming first home game of the season against the Carolina Panthers. It will show if there is any type of consistency on this team led by Todd Monken. Also, the question everyone wants to know is how the home crowd will treat Deshaun Watson from start to finish. Does anything change because of the win against the Bucs, or is he still hated upon? (article link about that on bottom)
There’s nothing wrong with not letting this one win make you think that this season is playoff-bound for sure. Also, you can still hate Deshaun Watson the man while also still loving the Browns each loss…I mean, uh, win!
Even so, isn’t winning once in a while…nice?
If the Browns do the same thing as last game this upcoming week, it will confirm that being happy was/is perfectly fine. If they get killed and lose, it’ll confirm how most people thought this season would be a long time ago. Then let the Deshaun-hating online heat back up…a hate that most people want to have and never get any type of reason not to do as such…
Every game matters, but there’s a lot more than one each season and that’s important to remember, not even just us fans but also the players themselves…or else Sunday and beyond may cling us back to the dismay that this season started with not too long ago.
Feels like that today, no lie...
