LeBron James Joins Elite Company. Again.
Amidst the midseason drama circling the Cleveland Cavaliers, on Wednesday night fans were reminded something that had been forgotten over the last few months:
LeBron James is still the best basketball player on the planet.
Wednesday, James hit the game winner over Minnesota’s Jimmy Butler in dramatic fashion. Not only did James win the game, he stepped into an elite company of basketball players for the second time this season.
LeBron James has become the sole player to lead the Cavs in all-time franchise points, rebounds and assists. Michael Jordan holds this feat with the Bulls and Kevin Garnett with the Timberwolves. Now, James joins this duo by achieving this feat in a Cavalier uniform.
Last night, grabbing his 5,905th career rebound, LeBron passed Zydrunas Ilgauskas to become the all-time leader in rebounds for the Cavs. This is an astonishing accomplishment achieved by James that was overlooked Wednesday night.
By grabbing that rebound, James achieved something that only two players have ever been able to accomplish in the history of basketball. Everything else aside, this accomplishment deserves a round of applause for James.
LeBron James continues to break records in 2018. Just a few weeks ago, LeBron became one of seven players to ever score 30,000 career points. Just about two weeks later, he shatters a franchise’s rebounding record.
While James oftentimes takes the blame for the drama surrounding the Cavs, he should also be highly praised and applauded for his mind-blowing accomplishments on the court.
