LeBron James Is Making Himself A Douche Bag Before Retirement

LeBron James Is Making Himself A Douche Bag Before Retirement

Let me start off by saying, yes, I am a Cavs fan. Yes, I am salty…actually angry, after the team blew a 29-point lead to the Philadelphia 76ers. But this article doesn’t have to do with the game itself, but actually the night before, with LeBron’s first game with the 76ers in New York.

I remember from even the first grade in school, we would stand up and say the Pledge of Allegiance before starting class that day. And guess what I did and the rest of my classmates too? We stood up and said the words. Obviously, it’s different from a young child to a grown man on the basketball floor. A man that kids that age of mine in first grade NOW look up to…

Here’s the thing about LeBron….

Yes, I grew up in his era (turning 30), whereas Michael Jordan was a player in my father’s and such, but I still have James as the best player ever in pure basketball form. But here’s what changed…even with the guy who literally carried my team I’ve loved for life to the first championship EVER in basketball and since 1964 in all of Cleveland Sports.

LeBron…has started acting like a douche bag.

Honestly, everyone nationally will cite how Cleveland hated him in 2010 for his choice to leave for Miami. However, the entire country still loved him or at least respected him as a person. Of course, our city reconciled with him after his return home and the aforementioned championship. At that time, he was for sure getting that statue and loved for life in these parts. Even if he retired the day after winning the 2016 title.

But this feeling of dislike really started for me this past offseason. I didn’t love or hate his time in LA with the Lakers. The worst was the rage-bait videos of him golfing, knowing everyone was waiting for him to decide where he was going to play for his (likely) final year. This included me at the time, a fan in Cleveland who, admittedly, wanted him to play here in Cleveland for the final run. What really struck me is how the NBA themselves said they can’t plan anything for this year until knowing what team LeBron is on. Makes sense, once you think about it. The man is popular; that’s why I’m writing this honestly. So they were thrown off by this waiting game as well…

So when I saw the video of LeBron practicing his golf swing and such during the National Anthem, I was disgusted. Because here’s the thing: he is literally THE AMERICAN DREAM. He grew up as nothing, became something, grew and grew and became a global superstar. A real-life version of ROCKY, which my mother has to remind me is a movie still at my age. (Apollo Creed is my favorite character, if you care!)

So why disrespect YOUR COUNTRY?

That has had people die for your freedom and ability to live and play the game of basketball that we all love? What was your point, statement and meaning besides wanting attention? Like, when Colin Kaepernick took the knee during the anthem, we all have our opinions, but at least there was a direct reason to debate. The women running off the court for the WNBA have an issue with trans athletes and such.

This, by LeBron, was just for attention and a reason for more chatter about him.

But, here’s the thing. LeBron, there are people who replace you. In Cleveland, people want the Jose Ramirez statue built instead of yours. Elsewhere, people cite Jordan’s character over yours. This isn’t to dispute your play, but it’s to ask: why are you acting like this to end it all?

Don’t you want to be remembered forever as a great person too? Cause here’s a picture of one:

LeBron, maybe start hanging with Deshaun Watson to find out how to piss off people more. He’ll be a great resource for you to do that and ruin your legacy even more.
